What is Astrobiology ?

Astrobiology is a fairly new branch of astronomy that has to do with the search for conditions that will promote life in space such as the discovery of the proper elements such as carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, organic molecules, water, etc. and/or life itself.  Research into astrobiology is currently going on at a number of universities and a number of websites on the internet have appeared to discuss what is being learned in this field.
